NH SUGAR HILL — Sugar Hill Select Board hears Fire Department faces payroll strain. Fire Chief Clark reported to the board that the Fire Department's payroll will exceed budget this year due to four new firefighters attending Firefighter I training. The department is pursuing a recruitment and retention grant from the New Hampshire Chiefs Association to help cover personal protective equipment costs and payroll overages.
During his second quarter report, Chief Clark noted 34 fire runs and 16 emergency medical service calls, plus completion of assembly permits for churches, town buildings, and businesses.
